ASAP TRAINING SERIES PREVIEW

The Training Series Committee is hard at work planning the May 12, 13, and 14 program. Karen Finnegan (Dept. of Justice, OIP), Fred Sadler (FDA), and Charlene Wright Thomas (IRS) are planning the three-day program to include these sessions:

May 12 — FOIA Overview; Exemptions Overview; Privacy Act Overview; FOIA and Privacy Act Interface;

May 13 — E-government; Exemption 2 and Critical Infrastructure Information; HIPAA and the Privacy Act; Exemptions 6 & 7C; Privacy Act, Personnel & Disclosure Without Consent; Fees and Fee Waivers; Exemption 1

May 14 — Litigation & Landmark Cases; Exemption 5; Privacy Impact Assessment; Exemption 4; Investigative Exemption 7; and Open Mike

These sessions are subject to change and speaker availability.

The Series will be held at a new venue this year. The Cafritz Conference Center in the newly renovated George Washington University Marvin Center in Washington, D.C. will host the program. The program is a series of three, one-day programs. Pricing, which has not been finalized, is set on a per day basis so that attendees can pick and choose the day(s) best suited for them and remain within their budgets. For planning purposes, one could budget per day registration fees of $235 for members or $265 for nonmembers. The fee includes registration (tuition), program materials, coffee breaks, and luncheons.
